SPM Sample Essay - TIME

Imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning with RM86 400. It carries over no balance from day to day, allow you to keep no cash balance; and every evening, cancels whatever part of the amount you have failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course! Well, everyone has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86 400 seconds. Every night, it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. You will not be refunded or compensated with extra time.

Obviously We need time to work, to eat, to sleep and to accomplish all the daily chores of living. Whoever we are, what type of life we’re living, we need time in our lives. We also need time to know and understand our spouses, our children and our friends. Most of our relationships, in fact, require more time than we have; and it is difficult to avoid the feeling that we could never have enough. Nor is our lists of demands on our time complete.

Time is like a river. As the current of the river flows ahead and never comes back, same is with time. It is up to you on how to manage your time. Time-management is very essential. You have to organize your time wisely. A farmer has to harvest his crops on time but if he neglects, the birds will eat those crops or untimely rain may destroy it. A lawyer need to be punctual in court or his case will be thrown away. It is devastating to know that in this cases time has become your enemy due to your own negligence.

Not only that, don’t focus too much on only one aspect of life. At the end of the day, you will realize that you have missed so much! For instance, as a parent, you should spend some quality time with your family, not busy working as a bee all the time. On a similar vein, as a student, you cannot wait until the eleventh hour to study or prepare for your examination. One thing for sure, you will not pass the examination with flying colours.

Time is like money. every day, hour, minute, second is precious for us.As we spend money wisely,in the same way our time should be spent very cautiously. Each of us has only 24 hours a day and no one else can live our lives for us. The clock is running. Make the most of today. Don’t count every hour in the day, make every hour in the day count!
