A hurricane is a swirling mass of clouds that movesaround a calm and clear centre calls an eye. Hurricanesare the large and most powerful storms in the world. Theword “hurricane” comes from “Huracan”, a word given tothe West Indian God of Storms. The Earth is wrap in ablanket of gases called the atmosphere who is like anenormous weather machine. A sun is like a giant enginedriving the weather machine. Its energy drive air andwater around our planet as it warm the earth creating theclouds but the wind. In warmer places, the weathermachine can be very powerful because there were moreenergy from the sun to drive it.
