What is Red?
- The persona creates an image of something fiery and striking by saying 'red is a sunset, Blazing and bright' to indicate that red is such an impressive colour.
- 'Red is the giantest' signifies that red is so widely used, can be seen almost everywhere.
The colour 'red' is symbolic of
i. things in nature
ii. things people use
iii. human feelings.
The colour 'red' is bright, hot and blazing.
'But can you imagine, Living without it?'
The word 'red' is repeated throughout the poem.
- 'Red squiggles out' - signifies blood as it flows out when one hurts himself.
- 'Red runs through your head' signifies feeling of anger
The colour 'red' is full of contrast and challenging but it has to be valued as we cannot do without it. It is like a necessary evil.
'Red is hotness, You get inside, When you're embarrassed, And want to hide.'
- a red red nose
- a circus cart
- spot on your nose
- no doubt about it
- Living without it
